Many women who have experienced economic abuse have been prevented from working or otherwise had their employment sabotaged. The prospect of re-entering the workforce can seem daunting after a period away because of abuse. There are government initiatives and not-for-profit organisations expressly set up to support women become ready to work. Some organisations support women to gain employment while others support women to become self-employed.

Return to Work (NSW) Return to Work grants offered by Service NSW, assist unemployed women to overcome barriers they may face in gaining work. Grants of up to $5,000 can be used for a range of goods and services.
Fitted for Work Fitted for Work helps women in Australia experiencing disadvantage get work, keep work and navigate through working life with success. Anyone who identifies as a woman and those who do not wish to be limited by definition, are welcome.

TAFE Smart and Skilled People who have experienced domestic and family violence in NSW may be eligible for a 100% subsidy on a Certificate I, Certificate II, Certificate III or Certificate IV level qualification on the NSW Skills List.
